Italy and the Food Supply. Dealing with the question of food supplies in Italy, the Correia | Economico estimsisa the require ments, of foreign. wheat, during the year at 250,000,000 quintale. | It will be necomary to impor 1,500,000. qualintals of angar, which, like wheat, will ring in price owing to the high freights. The yearly consumption of mest in now double the home, supply. The paper urges the Government to enact measures to "ompel people to coneume lers of these foodelaffe.

Sir Hedworth Meux Appeals,

Admiral of the Fleet Sir. Hedworth Meux, M. P., appealed to the Hertford appeal tribunal recently on behalf of a second

an on. his stud farm at Enfield, where he has 31 mures, 14 of which are in foal. He said he had only four meu left, including mes of 80 and 50 years of age. The tribunal granted exemption until February 1, the chairman stating that in these times of difficulty about men the stud should not be so large.

The New Delhi.

London Nov., 10-The Coort Ui:cular announces that Mr. Edwin Lutyens was received in audience by the King

on

Sa orday evening. Mr. Luigene is a member of the Committee appointed to advise the Govern- ment of India regarding the re- planning of Delhi as the seat of the eupreme Government of fodia, and he is leaving shortly for India on business connected with the Committee's proposals. The cost of the new capital buildings, now in course of construction, ie extimated at £2,800,000

Mr. Lloyd lleorge then and now.

London Nov 10.-Lord North- bourse, of Bottechanger, near Deal, announced at the time of the Badget proposals of Mr. Lloyd George, then Chancellor of the Exchequer, that he would roast a fat ballook on his estate in celebration of Mr. Lloyd George's going out of office when that erent should occur. He has now «<lecided instead to present the bullock to a war charity auction to be held at Canterbury "on November 15. fo intimating this' to the committee. Lord North- board 33:-"I think now a better use could so ircely be found than to offer it for the causes you have taken in hand in special recognition of the patriotic eer- vices of the Minister for War."

Germany's New Divisions. London, Nov. 14-A Paris wireless message states :—It is officially sanounoad that the Ger- man Grown Prince has left Ver dun and is commanding in Alasos. Thanks to Germany's policy of reducing the number of infantry in each division, she has not <drawn on her ́ reserves to create new formatióne to act against Ramanis, bot has made up the ABCBBELTY divisions, from the in- fantry at other front. Neverthe- less, youths of the 1919 class have been found among the prisoners ....—a etriking testimony to the way first Verdun and then the Somme fighting have drained Germany of her manhood.

Hyphenated Missionaries and India.

German missionaries are no longer allowed to sow the seed of Kultur in India, but apparently the field is still open to German- Americans, remarks Truth. My attention has been drawn to a -report in an . Ohio newspaper of the approaching departure for Bombay of a party of mis- sionaries of the Charch of the --Brethren, whatever that may bo. Nearly all of them era --Americans with Tentonin names. It dow not follow that they have any political or spiritual affinity with the Fatherland, but all the esme one cannot help wondering whether the continual influx of foreign mistionaries into Indis is helpfal to the British Raj. The question demands consideration, especially in rion of facts that have come to light in the past year or two regarding that fects of alien teaching on the native mind.
