The Dutch steamer Midsland, bound for Newcastle, has been taken into Zeebrugge. by a German submarine.

The Norwegian steamer Tegs sunk. The crew of thirty. -three and sixteen passengers were landed.

The Danish barque Villak was burnt by a submarine.

WHERE THE KUT PRISONERS ARE.

Beuter's correspondent at Headquarters anys 7,000 pris- oners have now been collected.

Our latest attack was a successful little enterprise by the Australians and others who captured 300 yards of trench south-east of Butte de Warleucuart.

General Sir Douglas Haig reports that the prisoners since the 13th inst. number 6,100.

We beavily bombarded trench lines in the neighbourhood of Loos.

At Bulluch aeroplanes bombed two important junctions in the enemy's lines of communication.

Five enemy machines were brought dowu and five dam- aged. Three of ours are missing.

A Paris communique states that there has been nothing on the whole front except a lively artillery, duel in the Saillisel region, north of the Somme.

ENROLMENT OF POLISH VOLUNTEERS.

November 17, 5.35 p.m. According to Reuter's correspondent at Amsterdam, & Berlin telegram states that the enrolment of Polish volunteers will begin on November 22nd.

A French official telegram from Salonika says the British on the left bank of the. Strums captured Kavakli. The Franco-Berbians are advancing successfully on a Cerna region division. In a desperate fight they stormed the Ridge north of the Iven in the Cerna loop and repulsed three counter- attacks. Franco-Serbiani, farther west, stórmed Monastery Hill in the direction of Jaratok cavalry captured Negotin, north-east of Konali. Four hundred were taken on Nov. 15. -

The Germans in the Aluta Valley are commanded by General Kneiach.

The 41st Prussian Division has been replaced by the 11th Bavarian Division in the Jiul region.

They have received orders from the Kaiser saying: "The enemy must be destroyed."

THE FUTURE OF POLAND.

November 17, 8:30 p.m."

M. Briand and Mr. Asquith bave jointly telegraphed to the Russian Premier, warmly applauding the Russian denunciation of Germany's violation of international law treaties by claiming to create a Polish State and levy an Army; and rejoicing at the emphatic renewal of the Tsaris promise of Polish autonomy.

THE FEW FOOD REGULATIONS.

The Food Regulations are gazetted. They empower the Board of Trade to prohibit waste of any article and to re- gulate manufacture and production, the manner of supply- ing the public market operations, to fix maximum prices and commander stocks on terms subsequently fixed by the ar bitrator, and demand and verify returns relating to locks contracts, cost, etc,

THE PARIS ALLIED CONFERENCE,

November 17, 10.20 p.m. Reuter's Paris correspondent telegraphs that at the Allied [Conference, the British representatives will include Mr. Asquith, Mr. Lloyd George, Sir Douglas Haig and Sir Wil- Liam Robertson.

The Admiralty announces that aeroplanes and seaplanes dropped a considerable weight of bombs, with good results, on the docks and shipping at Ostend and Zeebrugge in the morning. The machines returned.

A SUCCESSFUL ANGLO-FRENCH RAID.

Details of the raid by sixteen Anglo-French aeroplanes

on Oct. 25, show that the bulk of the Essingen Works at Ha- meendingem, where steel for the big gune, is produced, waS unworkable for a considerable time.

A WONDERFUL REPRISAL FLIGHT.

November 18. 1.45 r. Captain Beauchamps, ascending at 6 a.m., flew to Munich, arriving at noon. He bombed the station in reprisa) of Ger- man bombardments of the open town of Awiene. He crossed the Alps and landed in Itäly, twelve miles north of Venice, having covered 438 miles.

RUSSIA'S STERN INTENTION,

November 18, 4.55 .. Reuter's correspondent at Paris says that the Russian Premier, telegraphing to the Russian Ambassador at Paris, denies the "absurd rumours regarding a secret Russo-Ger- man negotiations with a view to a separate peace." He says that Russia intends to fight the common enemy beside ber brave Allies, unfalteringly, till anal victory; and that no hostile intrigue will weaken Russia's irrevocable decision Beuter's correspondent at Petrograd says the Tsar, in a telegram to the Council of State, thanks them for their unanimous decision to sacrifice everything for the sake of final victory.
