A Landwehr Regiment Wiped Out.

November 3, 2.35 a..

A Rome semi-official announcement says that the Aus trian positions sast of Gorizia, on the summite of steep slopes ware intercepted by ravings and covered by woods, while the defences in the Carso besides the ruined villages includ- ed numerons boundary walls. The principal line of re- sistance on the Carso was carried by the Italians, who ad. vanced two kilometres on thickly wonded ground up a slope. Besides taking 5,000 prisoners, they inflicted very heavy losses. The twenty-first Landwehr Regiment was wiped out and its sta, three battalion commanders and 1,500 men were captured.

Italian Air Success.

It is officially announced in Rome, that an Italian air- ship dropped seventeen bombs on enemy works and vessels in San Pietro Roadsteal and in Sebenies Bay, and returned safely despite a cannonade from the shore batteries.

THE OLDAMBT AFFAIR.

The Admiralty announces that the Dutch steamer Oldambt was captured by the enemy last night near the Noord Binder Lightship. A prize crew was taking the ship to Zeebrugge when, about daylight on the 2nd inst some of our light scouting craft overtook her. The prize crew attempted to blow up the ship, and with the crew took to the boate. The prize crew, consisting of an officer and nine men, were overtaken and made prisoners. The ship. was taken in tow by one of our vessels. Five German des troyers arrived on the scene, presumably to escort the prize to port. They were engaged, and immediately put to flight The Oldambt was towed for five hours until six miles from the Hook of Holland, when a Dutch tug took charge of her.

THE GREEK SITUATION.

The Angeliki Outrage.

November 3, 4,35 a.m. Beuter's correspondent at Athens states that seven Greek steamers have been torpedoed during the past twelvo days, including the Angeliki and the Kiki.

The Government at Athens is striving to diminish the public agitation regarding these outrages by insinuating that the vessels were destroyed by floating mines; but the indignation is growing.

An inmense concourse attended the funeral of the sol dier victims of the Angeliki, The Piraeus shops were clos- ed and flags were half-masted. The Entente Legations sont wreaths, and the civic authorities of Athens and the Piraeus and Admiral Fournet attended the service at the Cathedral, but the Government was not represented.
