THE SILVER MARKET.
Effect of:China Selling.
(Reuter's Service to The “Talagraph”)
London, Received, October 7. Messrs. Montagu's silver report states that the appearance of the market is less robust, but there seems Do 1688on to doubt that the undertone continues good.
The approximation of the price to 33d. has provoked sales from China; and wuch sales, even if not large, affect the market, for there is always a possibility of the quantity increasing. The mere fact that China is selling infuences other telling. Speculators are disposed to take profit and the Indian basaare, "whome adverse viawa | regarding the fature of silver aro notcrious, immediately fool de- pressed, and a retrogression in prices is the natural outcome of these circumstances.
