An expert published in the Journal de Geneve a calculation according to which the Dedtsch- land could only.carry 100 tons of cargo. Another expert publishes in the same paper the following calculation: The Deutschland has a displacement of 2,000 tons. She only raa 9 knots, that is 50% less than her ordinary speed. The machinery has, therefore, been. eacrificed to cargo space, which may, therefore, be calculated at 705 tops. We may assume that a carzo of rubber has been taken on MAKASSAR the homeward voyage. On July SHANGHAI 1, rubber cret at York frs. 15.50 and at Hamburg fra. 61.50. This means a gross profit of fes. 34,- 500,000 on a cargo of 750 tons.
