The Allied OFFENSIVE.:
The Whole of Bouche a Vesnes Captured.
(Beulse's Service to Aue "Telegraph."}
September 13, 4.10 p.m.
A Paris communique states: We stormed the village of Bouche & Veanes and the farm of Bois l'Abbe south-east thereof, and captured prisoners and a large amount of war material. The whole of Bauchs a Younes, where the enemy was strongly entrenched, was carried brilliantly... We have organised the conquered positions. The enemy did not st tempt a counter-attack.
An Enemy Attack Stopp.d.
September 14, 12.05 a.m.
General Sir Douglas Haig, in a communique, sayı: An enemy attack in the direction of Mouquet Farm was stopped by our fire with considerable loss.
Much Fierce Fighting.
September 14, 1.30 s.m.
A Paris communique states: Our positions were consi- dorably.. extended before Coubles.
An entire system of strongly organised trenches 'was taken by assault south of Priez Farm.
The unwounded prisoners taken yesterday and to-day number 3,300.
There was fierce fighting during the day on the centre and 'right.
The enemy vigorously attempted to regain ground, and two regiments which were told off, succeeded in retaking the farm of Bois L'Abbe, but we expelled them completely. There were furious attacks in which there were hand to hand encounters, with swaying success.
In the south our infantry maintained their gaina." Two guns and forty machine guns were captured in one sector alone.
Combles Totally Isolated.
September 14, 12.15 p.m.
A Paris message states that communications between Com- bles and Percane are now cut completely, and as the British at Ginchy can sweep other roads from Combles to Bapaume, with their artillery, Combles is totally isolated.
GLORIOUS VERDUN..
September 14, 5 35 a.m. Reuter's correspondent at Paris says there was an unique ceremony at Verdun when President Poincare, in the presence of the Allied representatives, presented the town with the declarations conferred on it by the Allies in recog nition of its defence. In his speech President. Poincare said "Supreme hopes were shattered against the walls of Verdun where Germany sought an astounding spectacular victory. The debris of the German dreams lies at our own feet. The name of Verdan will ring throughout the ages- the cry of liberated humanity."
