Germany's Losses in Officers. Official-German returne, issued on July 1, show that up to June 1 Germany's losses in officers totall. ed 76,117, namely-killed, 23,974; wounded, 45,910; missing, 4,009; prisoners, 2,224. In generals alone the German losses up to. June 1 numbered 92 killed, 98 wounded, and 4 missing.

987,238 Old Age Pensions. In the year ended in Mároh, 1915, 180,379 claime were made for old-age pensious, of which. 108,058 were in England. On the last Friday in March no fewer than 987,238 persons drew the persion, and with the exception of 43,000, all received the excep tion of $3,000, all received the full 5. This is the highest num- ber recorded, the total having gradually risen sínos 1909, when there were only 647,494recipients. Some 41,000 claims were rejected by committees or on appeal.

Indians to Visit Japan. A party of Indians consisting of two officials and six business men from Mysore, will shortly visit Japan with the object of further- ing the trade relations between the two countries, says a Japan paper. The party'decided to visit Japan after a cordial invitation from the Japanese consul at Bombay. The party were expect ed to start from Bombay a week #go. The Japanese, Government recently sent circulars to all the chambers of commerce in Japan asking them to extend facilities to the visitors on their arrival.

Hard Labour Well Bestowed. Sentence of six mouthe' im- prisonment, with hard labour, has been passed by Court-martial on Frank L. Parton, a law stud-. ent, whose conscientious objec. tions to military service have been before the Chertsey Local Tribanal, the Surrey Appeal Tribunal, the Central Appeal Tribunal, and the High Court, After being food at Chertsey as an absenter, Parton refused at Guildford Barracks to undress for medical examination, and was consequently dealt with by Court- martial.
