The Empire Press Union. Mr. F. Orosbie Bcles, a well- known retired Ceylon journalist, who edited the Times of Ceylon for many years, has been supoint- ed Hon. Secretary of the Empire Press Union, the regular Secre tary, Mr. Marston, having been called up for active service.

Colonel Arthur Lee Honoured.

The King has been graciously plessed, on the recommendation of Mr. Lloyd George, to confer on Colonel Arthur Lee, MP., the honour of a K.0.B. (Civil) in re- cognition of exceptional services rendered to the military forces in the field in connection with the supply of munitions of war. Colonel Lee han travelled widely in the Far East and also in America. He was Professor of Strategy and Tactics at the Royal Military College, Canada, and Military Attache with the United States Army during the Spanish-

American War,

The Roll of Honour. Lieutenant George Simpson, Durham Light Infantry, who was killed on July 4, was the only són | of Mr. and Mrs. George Simpson, The Castle Greunde, Devises, Wille, and Quorndon, Forest, Row, Sumner. He was educated' at Marlborough College, and after a three years' course at the Royal School of Mines at Camborne he specialised on the metallurgical side of goldmining. His last appointment was the mausgerehip of the reduction plant of one of the Redjang Lebong gold mines ia Sumatra. Soon-after-the-war broke out he joined the Public School Brigade and after serving for fire months as a private he received a commission.
