Shanghai, March 21. The trial of Nielsen's chauffeur, in the French Concession shell | case, reached a sensational stage when a German, who had been registered as a Russian, revealed a plot to place bombe on Allied steamas at Dalny and also upon the Empress boata.
He said Nielsen's house was a perfect arsenal, also that Germans kad offered to obtain any passports to secure his transfer towards Siberia to bomb the railway. He informed the authorities.

March 20, 1.45 p.m. Hr. Chamberlain has appointed Six Marshall Eeid to be a Member of the Council of India in succession to Sir Falix Schuster, whose term will shortly expire.
The James says the appointment remedies a long-standing complaint regarding non-representation, on the Cuneil, of Indian financial and commercial experience, and remarks that it follows the recommendation of the Royal Commission on Indian Finance and | Curency, of which Mr. Chamberlain is the Chairman, that there should always be at least one member of the Council with Indian financial experience.
