February 5, 2.05 a.. The War Office, in a foriber statement regarding the Zappelin zaid, reports the: 28 men, 28 women, and seen children ware killed and 48 men, 48 women, sad seven children injured. Details are given of the damage done to industrial sad commercial establishments in order to show the claim is without foundation that the economic lifə and military preparations of Great Britain can be affected by promiscuous bomb-dropping from airships wandering in the dark. One hundred and thirty-three man, of whom 17 were soldiers, 90 women and 43 children, have been killed during the 29 sir raids of Shanghai Great Brimin since the outbreak of war. Serious damage was dane | Japan via Kobe-Per FATSHING, 8th in the last raid to three breweries, three railway sheds sad to an an engine shed, a tabe factory, a lamp factory, and a blacksmith's shop. Minor damage, such as the shattering of glass and doors, WEDNESDAY, 9th Feb. occarred in a munition factory, two ironworks, a grant factory, Sandakan-Fer MAUSANG, 945 Fak It a harnem factory, a railway grain-thed and in a colliery pumping station. No docks, granaries, munition factories or industrial esisbhilippine Island-Par SHADESING fishments of any sort were damaged except thoaa mentioned. Some fifteen workmen's houses were demolished and a large number of small shops and dwelling houses were injured, some seriously, many alightly. "It is sanonnced that such detailed statements sa the above Straits. will not be issued in future, as it is insdvisable to inform the enemy of the resulta of air attacks. This statement is given, in the pressat instance, because the largest namber of airships that has been em- ployed hitherto was utilised. When it is remembered that 1,193 persons perished in the Lusitania alone, the Zeppelin raids, as a means of murdering innocent civiliana, must be comparatively dis- appointing to their promoters.

A Petrograd communique states that the Baasisas continue in parsaït of the enemy in the Caucasus, notwithstanding the absence of roads, the rocky country, deep passes and snowstorm
February 5, 12.15 s... Beater's correspondent at Petrograd says the Ramians have been marking further daring and successful raids. Russian bombers dispersed enemy working parties at various points on their western front. At one place they dislodged the Austrians from a mine crater, where they discovered two galleries leading under the su Russian trenches. Both were destroyed. The Austrians, south of Hon. Dabno, are using an apparatas projecting forty yards of flame in Ti order to repulse attacks.
