A statement in reference to the resignations says that, after discussion with Mr. Asquith, the Labour members of the House of Swatow, Amoy & Formos vis Tamuni Commons and the National Executive considered the Premier's statement, and as the party's conference is to be held at Bristol at the end of the month when the whole subject will be discussed, it was decided to withdraw the resignations meanwhile.

In view of the refusal of merchants in the United Kingdom to complete contracts with Hongkong merchants on the ground that the Hongkong people are not on the list of those to whom exports towards China may he consigned under the proclamation of November 30, the Board of Trade has found it necessary to issue a notice drawing attention to the fact that the proclamation does not apply to Hongkong.
