In the House of Commons, M:. MaKenas moved the second reading of a B.Il envbling foreign securities, especially Amstivan, to be placed at the disposal of the Treasury. Ele said that the mobilisation of these securities would enable us to restore the balance of trade, to meet our lixbilition with the United States and to improve the rate of exchange. The Government would purchase American and Canadian securities at corrent New York middle prices with five year five per cent. Exchequer Bods at par. The estimated total of these securities varied from eight hundred milliams to four hundred millions but he had no doubt they were sufficient for our requirements.

December 13, 9.35 mm An official message saya General Townshand reports that his position was shelled all day on December 8 and again on the 9th when there were enamy desultory attacks on all sides. On the 10th the enemy again howvily bombarded Kus and developed an attack: on the northern front which, however, uma not pressed. On the 11th, the bombardment was renewed.
