THE KING'S VISIT TO FRANCE. MAGNIFICENT DISPLAYS OF TROOPS.

October 29, 9.50 a.m. Die Majesty the King spent another day with the third army. when Presideat Poincare and M. Millerand strived. The King and the President held an inspection of troops after which they visited the Britisk second line of defences, including the redoubt. Then M. Poincare besides decorating the Prince of Wales conferred the dignity of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour on General Plumor and Lieutentant Generals Macready and Marvell, Bod Commander ships of the Order on Lieutenant General Rimington, Alderson and Lock Elliot, Major Goastala Hobbs and E. Grahem, and on Surgeon Gineral Sleggett.

The King and M. Po'acare and General Joffee made an early start on the following day which they devoted to the French army and a review of the second Colonial Corps. It was a usguificent sight, thousands of splendid men, their steel helme s glinting in the ann, and their tanned faces were most impressive. His Majesty con- gratulated Genersi Joffre on the splendid bearing of the men.

Another interesting visit was that of His Majesty and the Prince of Wales to the British second army including the Australian Transport and Ambulance Corps and the Canadian troops. The Dominion forces wholeheartedly cheered his Majesty, who seemed deeply impressed with the spontaneity of their enthusinam.

The last item on the programme was the review of certain corps, many of whose men have just come from the trenches all in the fittest condition.
