Japanese Steamer Ashore.

The N.I.K. steamer Fukuoka- mara, 2,600 tons, on the run between Kobe and 'Olaru, ran on

rock off Yojima, Kagawa pro froture, west of the Naboshima light, at 11 o'clock on Sunday morning. Her cargo consisted of 900 tons of rails, 1500 bales of ammonia, and 1,700 barrels of orment. The ammonia and coment were so badly damaged by sen water that it was all jattisoned. Up to yesterday atternnon the steamer had not been related.

The Wreck of the "Rufford Hsit,"

A correspondent of the Japan Gazette, writing from Hakodate on the 9th instant, gives some details of the accident, and psr- ticulars as to the cargo:-"The British etesmer Rufford Hall, band from New York for Vladivostock, vid Panama Ceral and Maroran, stranded on Omazaki, Bentenshima, on the southern side of Taugaru Straits, about 1 a.m. on the morning of the 6th inet nt.

"The steamer left New York no the 17th of July, with a cargo consisting of 500 tons of cotton, | 40,000 onses of kerosene oil, and about 6,000 tons of steel, tinpiste, armeared motor cars and military supplies, and arrived on the 4th at Muroran to take in bankers. She left Maroran on the morning of the 5b, but while passing through Tangaru Straits encount- ored thick weather, and ran ashore on the morning of the 6th.

"The Chinese Officer proceeded to Hako-date in one of the ship's boats for assistance, which was diepstobed by noon on the 6th, and hopes were entertained of floating the vessel and bringing her to Hakodate for repairs, the only damage being forward, the furepask being flooded while
