GERMANS ANNIHILATED IN A FURIOUS ATTACK.
October 28, 3.55 p.m. According to Reuter's correspondent at Petrograd the feature of a communique is terrifio fighting at Ikakul, twenty-five milea south-east of Kigs, and east of Illuxt. At both places the Germans attacked furiously. They were repulsed five times at Ikekul, and at the sixth attempt they gained a footing; but the Russians finally annibilated the majority of the attackers, aspiring the remainder. The attacks were equally determined at I lurt bat all were repulsed. The communiqu: meations that the fighting in the Riga region continues.

A Petrograd correspondent tolegraphing to Paria atsles that, acording to military authorities, the number of enemy divisions on a front of eight hundred miles a month ago was ons handred and thirty; to-day, on a front of seven hundred miles there are one bundred and twenty-five enemy divisions. The enemy bas almost doabled the number of his divisions on the Rigs front, having withdrawn troops from the other fronts except between Pripet and the Roumanian frontier, where he has increased his divisions by one-tenth.
