The Shanghai picco goods market during the week has been a miserable disappointment, there being no life apparent in any department. The continacne cry of the native of fearing trouble has had a very depress ing effect, inquiries all round! being only for small quanti- ties. Bombay Piece Goods. Thore has been a better feeling in the Bombas piero-zonda mar- ket, chiefly caused by the sharp and continuous rise in the value of raw material and the cal rates of few well known ekope advanced by five annas par piece daring the week ended September 25. Gray cloths show liitle act- ivity, but sales of cheaply taught Japanese makes have been rande in good lines, at prices which are lucrative to dealers. The do- mand for bleached goods is still unsatiefoetory, but there has been speculative buying among dealers, in anticipation of an improvement Do.
