Cancer Sald to be infectious. Dr. Edwarde, medioal officer of health for Bournemouth, asserts in his annual report that cancer ia an infectious disease, not rapidly contagious, but slowly infecting from the patient to a healthy in dividual, and also slowly in- fectious through inanimate things. Ho accordingly urges disinfection in every osse of cancer, and unob facilitics are now provided in Bournemouth.
What the City Breathes. As a result of the critical ox- amination of the air in the City begon by the Corporation last year, Dr. Howarth, the City medical officer, states that in Desember alone the amount of deposit registered as falling in the City amounted to 51 tons avoirdupois. Of that mass of dirt nearly 34 tone were soluble, and included the alphates ammonia and oblorice, and 20 tons were insolable, and consisted of tar, carbon, and gril. No dense fog, has as yet been tested.
