six months. Conditions are co. advantageous for the two com- panies that it is thought that they will be able to make good this year the losses of past years. Celluloid goods have been exported chiefly to Chins and India and various other places, daring the past few years, but the Japan made article has not been able to compete with German made goods. Of the sonaal out- put of celluloid works hare, amounting probably to Y5,000, 000, not more than 80 per cent. at the most has been exported. This year the export trade is very sotive and it is believed that the gross value of shipments will reach ¥2,000,000 before the year ends. Large shipments have been made to Australia and even to England, Germany having lost her market in both these countries, Great quantities of combe are being
