Stender, of Provi dence, having completed the new wharf on the east side of the harbour for the Gulf Refining Co., is now engaged in rushing the construction of another for the Huasteca Petroleum Co, on the west side of the harbour of Pro vidence. This structure will be 600 ft. long, and 40ft, wide at the shore' ond. Two big oil tanks will be built later, on piles. The largest tank will have a'diameter of 114 ft will be 30 ft. deep, and will hold 2,000,- 000 gallone. San Francisco, June 19- Japanese newspapers report the proposed amalgamation of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha with the Toyo Kisen Kaisha. The Nichi Nichi, a prominent Toko newe- paper, learns that once Baren Shibusawa entered into informal negotiations on the question with the N.Y.K. directors, but they ended in failure, Baron Kondo, president of the N.Y.K., state ing that the time was not yet op portune for such a move. There are indications, however, that the N.Y.K. management is willing to consider the offer. Accord ing to the rich Nicht" the operation of the NYK linea has recently become very difficält owing to the gradus! decrease of the shipping subsidy. The N. Y. K. ships are rather fitted for carrying cargo, while the T. K. K ships are rather fitted es pa-sen- bonts than sa cargo vessels.
