The promise of high prices in- | dicated by the exceptional demand experienced last week and the further rise advised from the other) side was not fulfilled at the Eale held to day, values generally bo- ing lower than at the last auction. The highest price paid for fice ribbed smoked sheet was $137, & decline of $3. Fipe pale crepe touched $140 but this figure was paid for one lot culy the average Do. (Spec. shares) value being about $136. Plain smoked sheet wae $1 down at $129. The only grade to show any improvement was unsmoked sheet, $128 being paid for this descrip tion.
