ITALIAN COMMUNIQUE
Augurt 1, 2.25 p.m. The Rome communique reports that battles of extreme violence are still raging. The Italians took the offensive in the Cirnia region and inflicted extremely heavy losses, capturing trenches and prisoners.
The communique announces the opening of the second phase of the battles for the Cazao hills, the Italians successfully attacking the Austrian second line of defence and capturing hundreds of prisoners, many machine guns and rifles, and much wer material.
