THE GERMAN MOVE IN POLAND.
July 16, 1.35 p.m.
Experts in Petrograd state that a Geraian advance on Waraw from the north, bas begun on a hundred miles front between the Mlava-Warsaw railway and the river Pisss, with the marshes beyond. It aims at cffecting a junction with the Galician armies, now about one hundred and eighty miles away and crushing everything between.
The Russian defensive system in the intervening space com- prises a fortified area extending for eighty miles north and south and one hundred and twenty miles west and east, from the Novoge- orgievak fortress in the north to Ivangorod fortress in the south and from the fortified lines on Bzara in the west to the fortress of Brestlitovsk in the east.

Everywhere the Germans are bonud to make frontal altaoks and the Russians are preparing to meet the onset by Sghting e series of delaying actions, penalising the enemy to the utmost and then retiring to further prepared positions, as they did during the Galician retreat.
