To many it was a revelation that thensanda of Austrians and Germans were still Herenely enjoying (and in many of ses abusing) the utmost liteity in England. The revul sion of feeling which followed the sinking of the Lusitania and culminated in riots in coveral parts of the country, emphasised the fact that England's best in teresta were still menaced by berdes of foreigners who were permitted to enjoy the freedom which England has hitherto ex tended to all who seek her hospi table abcres. There is every rec sen for hoping that wiser cour sels will now prevail, and that public opinion will so influence the authorities as to make it im possible for the enemy in the heart of the Empire to traduce British interests.
