Conservancy in Klangsu, Following a recent tour of inspection, Governor Ohi Yuehlin has reported as follows:-"There is an Irrigation Burean established to attend to the Conservancy Work of the southern bank of the Yangtze River. The work has been carried on with considerable euccess along the Lia River, Ta- yang River and the Grand Canal at Kiangyin, and no disaster need be feared in future as provisions. have already been made against the drought and the flood. How ever the dykes in Paoshanhaien. have not been repaired for many years, and some calamity may happen in that district. I was struck by the danger of a breach along the broken dykes. The inhabitants offered incones to me. praying most earnestly for the safety of their lives by repairing these dykes. As these dykes affect the life and property of the people of more than 10 heiene,
