Her crew, along with the others of the steamers which were sunk, were placed en board the Liverpool steamer St. Egbert, which had been retained Leave Hongkong after capture for the purpose, and all were subsequently landed at Cockin on October 20 last. A 22nd June at 11a.m. prize crew was then placed on the 17th July

Exford, but her subsequent movements remain a complete mystery, and nothing farther was en-heard of her until after the sink- ing of the Emden by H.M.AS. Sydney on November 9. She was reported by German wireless from Berlin to have taken on board the Emden's landing-party from the Cocne Islande, and to be at large with an armed crew, but she was eventually found by a British cruiser deserted in some creek off the Eastern Archipelago, recap tared and delivered over to her owners' representatives in Singa pore on December 15 last. ÄIL traces of name, etc., had been eliminated, and even the builders" plate was found amonget a lot of rubbish in the bankers, the "T" removed from her funnel, and the all over, completely hiding her vessel painted a man-o'-war grey identity. She altimately dis charged, and afterwards loaded a cargo of rice at Saigon for home,
