The report of the "Penang Harbour Beard for the half-year ended December 31, 1914, shown a credit balance of $23,220, But after paying the interest due to Government, amounting to $50,- Yor Will Love on or about 055, & debit baispice of $26,826 S'HAI &...let half Juno is shown, and this sum after deducting the balance of $18,828 brought forward from last year leaves a debit balance of $7,097 excess of expenditure over re- venue. The total expenditure on new works from July, 1913, to December, 1914 was $110,620. The tonnage of vessels using Swettenham Pier during the half your was 203.001, as compared with 340,348 daring "a corres ponding period in 1913. The Board now has 98 wooden and 5 steel lighters with s tonnage sapacity of 6,690 tons. During the half year 39 vessels were dooked for painting and repairs, the tonnage being 37,017 tons as compared with 31 vessels and s tourage of 20,925 for the previous half year.

"The steamers are all fitted throughout with electric light and have accommodation for a limited number of saloon-passengers. All steamers carry a duly qualified surgeon. Cargo taken at through rates to all ports in Netherlands-India and Australia.”
