The Times correspondent at Peking says that the United States Government has presented identical Notes to China and Japan, re- fusing to recognise any agreement impairing American rights in China, the political and territorial integrity of China, or the Open Door policy.

May 27, 11.50 p.m. The Cabinet, upon the whole, has been favourably received. The Liberals den unes the inclusion of Sir Edward Carson, and surprise is expressed that Mr. Lloyd George should have left the Exchequer. It is declared that his absence is duly temporary and that he will remain in touch with Mr. McKenna. It is also stated that the office of Post Matter General was kept open for Mr. John' Redmond, but that the Dublin party's decision makes his refusal final.
