Although our market for local shores has not been very sotive during the week under review, values have in most instances been well maintained. There has been a considerable amount of business trensacted in Shanghai Cotton Shares at advancing rates and the market olones firm with strong upward tendency.

Bar Silver is quoted at 23.5/8 per oz. for ready.

Exchange on London opened to-day at 1/91 T.T.

Banke. Hongkong and Shanghai Banke declined from $800 to $785 salen and close with buyera cffering 8787).

Marine Insurances. Cantons are wanted at $358x div., North China at The 170 and Yanglesos at $225 ex. 73, Unions have sellers at 8855 buyers offering 8850,

Fire Insurances. There are buyers of China Fires of $130, and Hongkong Fires at $385.

Shipping Douglas's have changed hands during the week at 814, $44) and $45 closing with boyers at the latter figure. Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboats are wanted at $23 after salee Indo Chings have boyers at 8881/2, and Shells Transports at 93/ China and Manilas are in demand at $4.00 sellers asking 85.15, and Star Feixien at 880
