World's Gold Output.
The Engineering and Mining Journal of New York calculates that the tot production of gold, for 1914 should be something like 291,001,077, which is gome £1,500,000 less than the corrected total for 1013. The whole of tl i‹ reduction may be said to be doe to the Transvaal, where the strike in 1913 produced after-effects that onsed a reduction in the oat- put from that country by about £1,700,000. There are, of course, minor movemente in other re- spects, for Rhodesia showed an increase of just upon £800,000,) and West Africa one of about £200,000 The United States aleo increased its production by just upon £800,000, but Mexi co reduced ita production by 2000,000 owing to the trouble in that country, and Russia diminish- ed its outrun by about £600,000 also, the reduction being probably due to the war.
