The Indian Cotton Crop..

The recently received Memor- andam from the Government of India referring to the estimated. area and yield of cotton is ccm- piled from data available up to the end of November. The total area is estimated at 24,030,000 acres, a nominal increase on the figures of the previous year of 8,000 acres, but 3,519,000 acres, than equal to 17 1 per cent., larger the mean of the five years ending 1012-13. The yield is placed at 4,950,000 bales (of 400 lb., only 3,000 bules less than last season, but 990,000 bales, equal to just 25 per cent,, above the five years* average.
