Tonnage at Shanghal.

The total number and tonnaga of ocean steamers entered at Shanghai daring the quarter end- led December 31, 1914, was 912 ateamers of 1,627,347 tone, a decreass of 171 ships and 546,984 toos from the rame quarter of the rear before. Of the total entered, 40 per cent. were British, 27 per cent. Japanese, 19.8 per cent. Chinese, 4 per cent. American, 2.6 per cent. French and 1.0 per

sent. Russiao. The total number of river steamers entered was 305 Vessele of 471,047 tons againet 308 vessels of 176,517 tons in the same quarter of the year before. Among the entries is one German Vensel of 2,789 tons, the steamer Albenga which was moved down from Hankow

Difficult - Navigation. The Guit of Pechili has again become difficult of navigation owing to pack ice and several vessels have been more or lesa damaged in attempting to make Taku Bar. The Kingsing, which encountered the full force of the

floes, put back to Chefoo with her rudder hroken in three places and the quadrant smashed to atome, while the Hain Ming had her radder chaina broken and was⠀ brought to a standstill for four houre. It is farther reported that the Hainchi was caught by a largo field of ice that broke away suddenly from the south bank and had her radder-bead serious- ly twisted. The wreck of the steamer Guthrie, with lies near the entrance to the bar channel: is buried under a hill of ice whick has been forced, over her by the tide and her iron work and decka are twisted out of all shape.
