We now have Surgeon General Hoskyn in his speech at the Diocesan School prize-giving on Saturday-more or less congratulat ing the school authorities on the fact that the teaching of Latin had been abandoned.

"He could not help remarking that he regretted very much the large amount of time he spent as a boy on Latin. They had it at school for six hours a week and they had also to spend four hours a week in preparation for the lessons. If he had spent the time on chemistry or electricity he would have learned much more.' "
