has launched for the Blue Funnel Line the Mentor, a steal sorew cargo and passenger steamer designed for the Eastern service with a deadweight capacity of 10,000 tons. Her principal di mecsions are: Length 4701, breadth 66ft depth 35ft, 30s., with forecastle, long bridge and poop. The accommodation for first-class passengere, officers and engineors is in houses on the bridge deck. The long forecastle. is fitted up for the native pass eengers. A marconi house for: wireless telegraphy is provided. The machinery consists of triple-expansion engines, the eylindere being 31, 51 and 86 by 60 inch stroke, steam supplied by two double end and one single- end boilers, having a working: pressure of 195lb., and fitted with forced draught. This machinery will give a speed of 15 knots.
