GENERAL NEWS.

Hydrogen X-ray Tube. The bydrogen X ray tube, a thousand times more powerful than any that has over before been invested, was demonstrated recently, for the first time, by Mesure. B. Clyde Snook and Edwin W. Kelly, the inventors, at a joint dinner and meeting at the Adelphia Hotel of the New York and Philadelphia Roentgen Socie- ties. This new apparatus will have a commercial use that bith- etto was impossible, through the foot that it can burn con- tinuously.

An air jacket, similar to a water jacket on an engine, keeps the tube cool and prevents the glass and electrodes from heating.

This latter fact makes the tube- seful for commercial purposes, according to Mr. Snook, as it will allow its continuous

use for indefinite periode.

After an address by Prof. J. . Shearer, of Ithaca, N. Y., on "Some Measurements Made With, the Coolidge Tube," the New "York society was entertained at a banquet and smoker.
