Trade and the War.
H.M. Vice-Consulat Oaks (Mr. O. White) has forwarded samples of various kinds of printing, pack ing, and tirete papers such as are imported into Japan from Ger many, Austria, and other Europesu countries. As regards printing. paper imported in 1913 the principal sources of supply were the following Germany, 7,200 tous, valued at £124,000; United Kingdom, 7,000 tona, valued at £146,000; Belgium, 2,300 tône, valued at £41,000; Sweden, 1,500 tons, valued at £21,000. Of the packing paper imported in 1913 Sweden supplied 2,700 tour, valued at £30,000 and Germany 1,000 tona, valued at £17,000. "Imitation Japanese paper and tissue paper was imported from Sweden in 1913 to the extent of 1,000 tons, valued at £10,000,| while Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Norway each tent 000 tons.
