The Yard Market. Messrs. Polishwella Kotwall, in their yarn report dated December 17, atate:
We issued our last report on the 5th inst. for the mail Orientel, despatched on the same date.
As stated in all cur recent re porte, the businesa ia yarn is now confined strictly to daily deliver- ies, and this amounts during the past fortnight to about 8,500 bales. Prices in the same interval declined fully ten dollare a bale.
A new feature has been in- troduced into the market by a leading firm of importers opening a branch office amongst the Chinese dealers to dial directi with the country busers, and it will be interesting to watch the working of this new venture and ita effect on future yarn dealings.
At the close there are signs that prices may remain steady,
Total sale, 3,500 bales. Unsold teeks, 68,000 balee. Bild bat un delivered in the godown and to arrive, 29,000 bales,
Arivals. The mail str, Nan- kia and extra str. Kuin Mara from Bombay, have brought in 7,200 bales for Hongkong and 8,000 bales for Sbanghai, Ship- ment from Hongkong to Shang- hai, 900 bales.
Shanghai. A mall business is reported.
Japanese Yern.-Siles as follow: 250 bales Setnu No. 10 nt 891; 150 bales Sitsu No. 20 at 8116: 500 bales Yollow Joss No, 20 at $112/103.
