Serious Riot in Korea.p The Beau Freas, given some farther details of a riot which broke out in Samobyok diarios, Kangwondo, a few days ago, when Mr. K. Ilonma, a Covera- ment-General Commissioner, was murdered by the rioters. It is farther reported, though detailed account is as yet avail. able, that the fatal incident took place as Mr. Hosma was prepar- ing to take a photograph of a large assembly of Koreans gathered to Jisten to a lecture to be given by Mr. Watanabe, 1 Government foristry expert, con- cerning the official forestry in- vestigation to be taken up in the locality. While he was thus engaged some of the Koreans, about fifty in number, enddenly made a dash at him, and assault- ed him, before his companion and the police present could rescue him. It was only after a geo- darme bad fired on the rioteca, killing two and wounding one, that they succeeded in rescuing the unfortunate gentleman, who had by that time been mortally: wounded. Though first aid was given him, he succumbed to his injuries two hours later. Why the riot broke out is na yet in- explicable.
