The mortality returns for Singa- pore issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths show that, during the week ending October 10, there were 212 deaths (158 males, 54 females), giving a ratio per mille of population of 33.48. Malarial fever accounted for 23 MR. deaths, phthisis 37, convulsions 30, beri-bari 21, bronchitis 5, dysentery 11, pneumonia 13. Thirty-one children under three months of age died.
