The Admiral Watson, bound for San Francisco, was near the scene of the accident at the time. The air was heavy with smoke collision was due to this canes. The Princess Victoria' was bound from Victoria to Seattle. She makes no mention of damage to herself in her brief report to her owners. Cloud Burst Causes Five

Landsides.

Ipoh, October 1. There were five landslips on the Taiping Pass section of the railway between Bukit Gantang and Padang Rangas yesterday afternoon. They occurred after a oloud barat, and for a consider- able stretch the line is inundated, in some places to a depth of nine inches, Trains are delayed and the Penang afternoon express did not arrive at Ipoh antil 4 o'clock this morning.
