tonnage from north to south was increased in each of the chief classes of merchandigo-namely, coal, petroleum, railway material, and salt, by 225,094, 45,020, |89,956, and 17,705 tons re- spectively, as compared with the preceding year. In the traffic from south to north there, were increases in the following classes of merchandise: Rice 358,980
tone, manganese 245,848 tons,
cotton 108,070 tons, oil seeda 100,731 tona, various minerals 82,794 tone, and ground nuta 52,921 tone; while the chief decreases in the tonnage of this traffic were barley 501,543 tons, wheat 435,032 tons, sugar 347,313 tone, gram 176,558 tons and soya beans 97,924 tons. The traffic with the Indian Peninsula has decreased, comparatively with Hongkong1912, by 589,000 tone, while there are increases of 130,000 tong with China, Japan, and Vladivostock, and of 65,000 ton with Austra- lasia..
