How Pormamint Destroys Typhold Germa, For Explanation,
Read This Article, Moreover, later researches in dicate that Formamint also has a strong preventive power againat cholers and enterio fever. The extent to which Formsmint will destroy the cholera bacilli has not yet been fully estimated, but as regards practical results the following letter apeske sloquently for itself:-
The Medical Officer in charge of the Turkish Hospitals ander British auspices during the war, writes: "I would like you to know that, during the war in Turkey, when engaged with cholera cases, I invariably kept Bucking Formamint Tablets and had no bad effects. I also made the nurse and other assistants suck Formamint, We all swore by them, and 1 am personally grate ful to you,"
That Formamint will also des- troy the germs of enterio fever is evidenced by the laboratory experiment illustrated here.
од
A round glass plate was first covered with a special medium
which the typhoid basil develop lazariantly. The right half was then painted with or dinary saliva, and the left half with saliva in which Formamint had been dissolved. Afterwards, both halves were inoculated in absolutely the same manner with typhoid bacilli. The result was that on the half treated with or dinary saliva an active growth of bacilli occurred, while on the left half, which had been painted with Formamint saliva, there was no growth of bacilli whatever. This olearly shows that the person whose mouth and throat are pro- teoted by Formamint will be practically immune from typhoid bacilli in those regions.
A Practical Hint.
The War and Marine Insurance. Inquiries instituted at one of the largest insurance offices io Singapore last week respecting the effect on shipping of the declaration of hostilities between Austria-Hungary and Servia, re vealed the fact that there has been a most sensational increase in the rates of insurance, Rates
