Daring the week under review our market for local stocks has ruled steady and a fair amonot of basicers has been put through, Owing to the very serious political ontlok in Europe, the London Stock Exchange has been more or les demoralised, and stecke generally show heavy diepretion on the week. As we write, nesa has come to hand saying that the Souk Exchango has closed until further notice, which clearly goes to show the extreme gravity of the situation.

Exchange on London opened to-day at 1/8 5/8 T.T. nominal.

Banks-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks have declined from a buying rate of 8855 to a selling one of $815.

Marine Insurances-Cantona remained firm throughout the week with buyers at $317. North Chinus have, buyers at Tla. 142 with no business to report. Unions are on first $7923. Yangiges are wanted at $200 or 73.

Fire Lusurances--Ching Fires are steady market at $155 ofter sales at the rate. Hongkong tires have a nominal quotation of $398 Shippie-Chins, and Manilas, after xalen at $8, close sadly. Indo-Chinas have ellers at 860, Douglases have been placed at 31 and 831% and finish with probable busern at 831. Star Ferries are quoted $46. Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboats have lined from 2283 to 8271 sellers on the declaration of an interim dividend of only 50 cents per share. Shell Transports have been on oratio market and business has been transseted as low as 75/-, the olowing rate being 78/0 sellors.
