Trial Run.
The steamship Riouw, built by Messrs. Arold, McMillan & Sɔn, Ltd., Dumbarton. for the Stoom. vaart Maatschappij Nederland, Amsterdam, recently ran her trials on the Firth of Clyde. Her principal dimensions are length over all, 470ft; breadth, 56ft.; depths.moulded to shelter deck, 38f 3in. She is intended for the transport of pilgrime and general trade with the East."

The six boilers are 13ft. 9in, by 12ft, designed for a work.... ing pressure of 213lb. They are worked under forced, draught on Howden's patent hot air systern, and the steam is superheated by means of smoketabe superheaters. The trials proved in every way satisfactory, and a mean speed of 14+ knote was obtained on the measured mile,
