Messrs Wright and Hornby, in their share report, dated March 28, state :---
The market for local stocke has been active, a fair business being done chiefly for the settlement which passed off satisfactorily on 26th instant. Langkats have been a very erratic market and are still the chief attraction to speculators.
Bar Silver is 26.3-4 per oz. for ready and 26.3-4 per oz. for forward delivery, 'market quiet,
Exchange on London opened to-day at 1/11.1-8 T.TU
Para Rubber is quoted from London af 2/111 per lb, and the market for shares quiet.
Banks-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks have changed bands at $810, closing steady at the rate. Londou quotes £81/10/2 Marine Insurances-Unions continue steady at $845. Cantons are quiet at $330. North Chinas are enquired for at Tis. 14 Yangtees have been hooked at $205 and are still wanted.
Fire Insurances Chins Fires were sold at $144 and $145 and olose with further wollers at $145. Hongkong Fires are wanted at $308, after sales at the rate.
Shipping Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboats changed bands at $2814 closing steady. Douglases are offering at $36. Star Ferries are quiet at $49 after sales. Indo-Chinse can be obtained at $70, Shell Transports are slightly firmer at 100/6 buyers. London quotes 102/., middle price.
