Preliminary examinations show- ad that all the compartments were water tight and the damage, it

any, is probably

very light,

It' was stated that the accident was practically unavoidable, ona of the big hawsers giving Kany as the vessel was being sung around in narrow quarters in the harbour. The current swung the etern of the ship, thomping against the rooks.

Outside of the Nagasaki in- cident, an uneventful voyage from, San Francisco was experienced. The Manchuria brought 35 cabin passengers, 51 through pas dengers and 1,800 tons of general Cargo.

Enquiry at the offices of the Pacific Mail to-day elicited the information that the Manchuria had gone into dook at Kowloon for the purpose of having made good the damage which she su fained to some bottom plates. The demige, however, in by no means serious and should only take a few days to repair.

Cargo, suffered very slightly, tho damage to that being done. by salt water.

The vessel will sail from Hong- kong on Wednesday,
