The London Agent of the Im perial Merchant Service Guild, mentioning the name of a very large London Steamship Com- pony, states as follows:-"They continue to have a considerable amount of trouble in getting officers for their ships where only one room is supplied for the second and third officers. So much so that they had to put 1 per month on to their usual rate for these grades to obtain the necessary cfficers for one of their ships. This feeling amongst our members in response to the agitu- tion which the Guild has carried on in this matter ce regards ac- commodation is becoming very pronounced indeed and it is al most an impossibility to obtain officers for a ship where the rumour, gets around that two officers are berthed in ons cabin.”
