Messrs. Wright and Hornby's share report, dated January 17, states:-
There has been more activity in our local market during the week, closing with a firmer tendency.
Bar Silver is quoted 26 per oz, ready and 26.5/16 per oz. for forward delivory, market dull.
Para Rubber is quoted from London at 3h per lb. and the market for shares stendy. Exchange on London opened to-day at 1/10.15-18 T.T.
Banks: Business has been done in Hongkong and Shanghai Banks at $705 and $7975, closing with buyers at the former and sellers at the latter rate. London quotes £80/10.
Marine Insurances-Unions changed hands at $800 and $805 and there are farther buyers at $805, sellers asking $810. Cantons are on offer at $322). North Chinas are wanted at Tls. 133. Yanglezes are unchanged at $192) ex 7 3,'

Fire Insurances-There have been sales of China Fires at $100 and more shares are offered. Hongkong Fires are firm at $380 buyers. Shipping: Lhere Are cellers of Hongkong, Canton and Macao Steamboats at $294. Douglases are wanted at $29. Star Ferries are firm with bayers at $45. Indo-Chings have sellers at $79. Shell Transports are firmer London quoting 981- middle price. Sales are reported at 971-6.
Docks, Wharves & Godowns:-Hongkong and Whampoa Docks have been booked at $74) and $75 and equivalent rates forward closing with buyers at $75, cash. Kowloon Wharves were sold at $88 and $88) and close with buyers at $88. Shanghai Docks are easier with sellers at Tls. 67 Hongkow Wharves are Tla 108 buyers.
Lands, Hotels and Buildings Hongkong Lande have been sold at $114 and $114 and elas with buyore at $114, and solfers at $115. There have been sales of Humphreys Estates at $3.10 and there are sellers at $9. Kowloon Lande are firmer with. buyers at $45. West Points were done at $67 and $67) and close with buyers at the latter rate. Hongkong Hotels (old) have buyers at $120 after sales and the new have been done at $92,and close with further buyers. Shanghai Lands are quoted Tls. 92.
Refineries China Sugars are on offer at $94). Luzons are neglected at $30,
Mining: Raubs continue steady at $3.10 buyers. Tronobs are quoted from London 35/- sellere. Langkats after advancing to Tis, 33 sales cash in Shanghai early in the week dropped to Tis. 31 buyers. A fair amount of business has been done cash and forward. Kailans are quitad 37/0 middle prise.
Cotton Mills. There have been sales of Hongkong Cottons at 873 and $8 closing with bagers at $8. Ewos are sellers at Tls. 133 Shanghai Cotions are offering at Tis. 123. Lau Kung Mowe are wanted at Tle. 103h and Kung Tiks have buyers at 121.
Miscellaneous. There buyers of Obins Borneos at $101, Dairy Forms at $30, Green Island Cemente at 864 after sales. Ioes are $187, Ropes at 8224. Union Waterboats at $17) after sales at $17 and 174, and South China Morning Poets at $20 after sales.
