During the twelve months end- od Decembar 31 last, 2,097 teamers of 3,521,610 tons entered he port of Dairen. Of these 1,740 vessels of 2,680,200 tons were Japanese, 163 vessels of 129,980 tons British, 107.vessels of 310,650 tons German and 59 vessels of 37,950 tons · Chinese, Of the remaining nationalities epresented on the coast there were 28 vessels of 52,821 tons entored during the year.

First Aid Certificates (Scotland). Lengthy correspondence has passed between the Imperial Mer- shant Service Guild and the Board of Trade with reference to the above matter. At certain ports in Scotland impediments have been place in the way of
