saving of the West Hartlepool. steamship Oldfield Gränge and her orew of 30 by the aid of three Hull trawlers and a gun- bost. The Imperial was on her homeward voyage from Iceland when, about 90 miles from Faroe, her attention" was attracted by rookets from the disabled sleam- ship, which was out of her course and away from the track of vessels. It appeared that the Oldfield Grange had broken her rudder shaft on the voyage from West Hartlepool to Philadelphia with iron ore. The Imperial, despite terrific sena, launched a boat and got two wire hawsers | aboard. The Chalcedony arrived next and get out two boats, but both were broken, though for . tunately nobody was drowned. The third Hull trawler, the Euripides, came next, but the Oldfield Grange continued to drive before the wind and sea, and time after time the towing W 1947 on umbunthawsers parted. the trawler began to leak badly. ...2nd half Dec.The captain was fearing that she would sink, when the gunboat came up; her captain got a wire bawser aboard, and the Prohor chuin was attached to it. The gale afterwards modera'od, and the Oldfield 'Grange was towed 85 miles to Faros, the operation taking exactly a week. Toge have gone from Liverpool to bring her back.
