Slanghai, Received Oct. 7. After three ballots, lasting twelve hours, Yuan Shih- k'ai has been elected President with 507 votes.

His nearest rival was Li Yuan Hung in whose favour 179 were cast. He, however, telegraphed refusing to accept the Presidency on any conditions.
